The Nude is an annual exhibition that the Lexington Art League has been producing for more than 25 years. While its subject matter is consistent year after year, each exhibition has its own unique flavor because each juror brings his or her own unique aesthetic to the jury process.

Ebony Patterson, the juror for 2013′s exhibition of The Nude, is coming to LAL’s Loudoun House this Saturday to talk about the work in the exhibition and why she chose the pieces she did.

Patterson’s work is deeply influenced by Caribbean culture, especially that of Jamaican dancehalls. In an exhibition at Bermuda National Gallery in 2012, Patterson did two installations focused on idealized masculinity. To get a sense of her aesthetic and an understanding of how it influenced the work she selected for The Nude, take a look at this super interesting interview with her about that exhibition, Out & Bad.

The Juror Talk begins at 1 pm; it is free and everyone is invited to come, ask questions, and share your thoughts. LAL’s Loudoun House is located at 209 Castlewood Dr. We’ll see you there!
